Dr Naveen Gakhar, DVM

Dr. Naveen Gakhar  holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Science (DVM) from College of Veterinary Sciences, Punjab Agricultural University (India) and a Master’s degree in Animal Nutrition from the University of Manitoba.

He worked as a mixed animal practitioner in India for 5 years before moving to Canada in 2006 for his Master's program. He worked in Glenn Mountain Animal Hospital, Abbotsford , BC and at Sunrise Animal Hospital before takling over  the Sunrise Animal Hospital in 2016.

His professional interests include: small animal internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, emergency medicine, and critical care. Dr. Naveen Gakhar is a member of Canadian Veterinary Medical Association and Alberta Veterinary Medical Association.

He lives in Edmonton with his wife and a son. Apart from work he enjoys traveling, playing and watching sports, music and spending time with his family.

Dr Amritveer Toor, DVM

Shelby was born and raised on a farm east of Edmonton. Growing up surrounded by animals, she always knew she wanted to work in the animal health field. To pursue her dream Shelby graduated from Veterinary Medical Assistant program at Lakeland College in 2017. Shelby currently owns six horses, which she uses to compete in competitions threw out the summer. Three farm dogs know as Lacy, Rosco, and Angel, and one cat Foreman who was a stray found in the city. Aside from animals Shelby loves to travel, hunting, go to the movies and dine out. Traveling has taken Shelby as far as Italy and places like Oklahoma (to compete at a hose show) and Mexico.

Katelyn graduated from the Animal Health Technology program at Olds College in 2018. Before graduating from Olds College she worked as a Technologist Assistant at the Calgary North Animal Hospital and Emergency Service which invoked her passion for critical care and rehabilitation. She also had the opportunity of volunteering for the Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Society where she participated in the veterinary care and rehabilitation of sick and/or injured wildlife which inspired her to become an RVT. Katelyn currently lives here in Edmonton with her American Cocker Spaniel, Lily, and her Pearly Conure, Medli.

Sunny - Clinic Mascot

Sunny has been at Sunrise since March 2017. He came to us one day with urinary issues and ended up
wanting to stay with us since then. He is very affectionate and loving and loves to curl up on all the
comfy office chairs. He will gladly come and greet every person, cat and dog that walks through the
doors. He loves all the attention on him, loves his treats including cat nip and will always want to sit on
your lap.
